The Cabin

Small homestead at the lake

Homesteading

Ok, as you know the cabin mostly has been a weekend getaway for the summer to go out on the lake with our boat. Since deciding to get the chickens, started thinking about growing veggies as well. I found out several months back that my cholesterol was high & not wanting to take another medicine, decided to start eating better. So, with the way we enjoy cooking & I need to eat better, we started planting the things we like & that’s good for me. We have still been working on the place (Kim has found all kinds of cool things & decorations), that I just started thinking of making it like a small homestead that seems to be so popular now.

We now have finished the coop & the girls are 8 weeks old now. We have 15 raised beds with all kinds of veggies & herbs going. Kim has done veggies before a long time ago, but I never have. I have really enjoyed it so far. The chickens are great…so sweet & so much fun to watch.

Since the cabin is paid for…we are basically trying to get it exactly how we want it so that someday in the near future we can retire there. It’s so pretty, quiet, & relaxing down there. Nothing I want more out of life now than to spend it there with my sweet baby Kim & grow old together. The chickens & the good food that we grow is just a bonus.
