Ok, my parents raised to me to love animals. Have always had pets & even owned a pet store in the early 90’s. I don’t understand how people hunt & kill animals. I just can’t do it….I always do what I can to save them. Hell, right now we have 7 fish tanks going at the house & 1 at the cabin with a turtle & guppies. Also have 6 parakeets & 1 green cheek conure. We also have our best friend Roscoe who is now 5 years old & is an American Bulldog

Well, I have always wanted to have some chickens & since we have the cabin in the country, have decided to embrace the country/farm life & get chickens now. We have an 8 foot by 24 foot covered porch on the cabin & have decided to enclose part of it & built a chicken coop. Have been watching YouTube videos & learning all about them. I bought a coop last weekend from Tractor Supply for $400. It’s rated for 6 chickens, but is only 3 feet by 7 feet & I want them to have more room. We plan on getting 5 (hens) to start with & I’m gonna name them after all the women in my family but by using their middle names. I think this is gonna be cool & so much fun. I’m planning on building out the rest (enclosed part) this weekend so we can get this going.

Here are some before pics for you to see how we are starting this adventure. Will keep bringing you posts as we move along & learn how to take care of these new pets & buddies. These pics are of the coop & the part I’m gonna enclose to give them a great life. The coop, which is gonna get turned the other way & then I’m gonna enclose down to the fourth post. It will end up being 7 feet tall, 8 feet wide, & 16 feet long with the coop inside. Hope you all come back to follow along & maybe talk you into getting some birds.
