Crockpot Pizza Burgers

The title & picture are a little misleading, but man was this ever good. The recipe calls for the browning the meat & putting in a crockpot with the sauce & pepperonis, so you never get a chance to really make burger patties. I guess you could make patties & brown them, but then it would be hard to stir during the 3 hour cook process. So, I basically made sloppy Joe’s. I’m gonna tell you how & what I did different, but also post the original recipe so you make it how you want to. I used marinara sauce instead of pizza sauce (pretty much the same), I also traded the mozzarella slices at the end for pepper Jack. I added sliced jalapeño’s in with the meat, pepperonis, & sauce during the whole 3 hour cook time. I also did it on warm for the first hour & 1/2 & then on low for the rest. I toasted the buns & made open faced sloppy joes…it was so damn good. Give it a try. Now, I’m gonna post the recipe & ingredients for you to see how different I did it. Til next time peeps…

2 lbs ground beef

30 oz pizza sauce (two 15 oz jars)

1/2 cup pepperoni slices, sliced in half

1 cup shredded mozzarella

8 slices mozzarella cheese

8 rolls

Brown and drain the ground beef and place it in the bottom of a slow cooker.

Stir in pizza sauce and pepperoni. Heat on low for 3 hours.

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top and cook an additional 30 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Spoon the mixture onto rolls and top with a slice of mozzarella cheese.
